It's been five years since the outbreak; leaving in its wake a post-apocalyptic nightmare with ninety-five percent of the human population gone. In order to stay alive, you will need food, weapons, and other supplies. Some of you will be able to scavenge as you navigate the terrain, others will be forced to fight for survival as you encounter zombies and other players. Every decision will have an impact on whether you live or how quickly you die.
A group of us have started playing this. See our War Z forums for more info.

Vehicles Phoenix The Phoenix is a heavily modified HMMWV included in the Battlefield 3: Aftermath DLC. It is the counterpart of the Russian Barsuk. The 'Phoenix' acts as a light transport for troop transport, with an attached grenade launcher that has been fitted at the back in conjunction with the existing manned machine gun on top. Both of these weapons replace the remote-operated HMG on the HMMWV.
Although offering more cover than the HMMWV, the gunner positions are much more exposed. While reloading the grenade launcher, cover from gunfire can be sought in the other seats if they aren't occupied.
Barsuk The Barsuk (English: Badger) is a vehicle appearing in the Aftermath expansion of Battlefield 3. It is a heavily modified GAZ-3937 Vodnik. The Barsuk, like the the American Phoenix, is fitted with a grenade launcher and a manned, open top machine gun. The Barsuk is used as a support Vehicle like in base game, but has expanded weaponry such as a fully auto grenade launcher that works just like the AAV-7A1 AMTRAC secondary grenade launcher and it's standard KORD 12.7mm machine gun from base game. The sin of it however is that unlike base game where the gunner is well-protected, gunners manning either weapon are completely exposed and can be shot out of his seat like previous Battlefield games.
The main difference between the Phoenix and the Barsuk is the seating locations. The grenade launcher is in the front of the Barsuk, while it is in the back on the Phoenix. This means that the Barsuk's grenade launcher does not have as big of a range to protect the vehicle itself as the Phoenix does, leading to some issues if the vehicle is flanked.
Rhino The Rhino is a vehicle introduced in the Battlefield 3: Aftermath DLC acting as a technical. It is a formerly civilian van that has been retrofitted with armor and a remote controlled machine gun controlled by the driver to turn it into a medium/heavy troop transport vehicle. The driver looks through the remote gun's camera, which can use zoom optics. Although the Rhino can charge through roadblocks (such as those in Azadi Palace), it does not have the mass or engine power to knock down large trees.
The side and rear doors were removed, allowing three passengers to engage targets from within, toss out supplies, or repair the vehicle. Second seat is the right passenger; third seat is the left passenger; fourth seat is the rear passenger.
Enemies can shoot through the openings, including the visibility holes cut in the plates protecting the driver. The rear opening is especially vulnerable. Hand or rocket-propelled grenades can explode inside the cab, killing the passengers and seriously wounding the driver. With the extra armor plating and sandbags, the Rhino can limit RPG damage to 28% per hit, regardless of the hit location.
Planet Side 2 PlanetSide 2 is a free to play massively multiplayer online first person shooter (MMOFPS) published by Sony Online Entertainment and released on November 20, 2012. It is the sequel to PlanetSide which originally released in 2003. Officially announced on July 7, 2011 at the Sony Fan Fair, the second installment uses a brand new game engine and supports hundreds of players in continuous large scale conflict.[3] As in the first PlanetSide, PlanetSide 2 chronicles the efforts of three factions as they fight for territorial control of the planet Auraxis.
Features PlanetSide 2 will be a re-imagining of PlanetSide, featuring the same world, factions and taking place at roughly the same time period. As in the previous game, it will feature territory control in an open-world, large battles featuring up to 2000 players per continent on foot or in land/air vehicles. The territory system is more complex than in the original PlanetSide, and will play a bigger part in shaping the battlefield. SOE has been taking into account balance issues from the first game. Matthew Higby, the creative director, has stated "We're definitely going to be rewarding combatants on lower population empires through mechanics such as proportionally increased advancement rates and resources and we'll be attempting to balance the overall empire saturation on each server as much as we can without force-restricting folks from being able to play with their friends." The pacing is going to be faster than the original PlanetSide. It will feature potentially thousands of players. It will also feature familiar first person shooter elements such as sprinting, iron sights, and regenerating shields. An important aspect will be that player skill is the major determiner when it comes to being able to kill other players. Unlockable Skills are planned to only make between a 15-20% difference between any player[citation needed]. The model of obtaining the said skills will be similar to the model of Eve Online, with skill taking time to be learned. The game will also feature a unique Day/Night cycle, meaning that battles will happen in different times of day, affecting the general methods for warfare.
Classes and Weapons Another thing the game is taking from the genre is the pre-set classes, with multiple progression trees. The versatility of the original inventory system was replaced with the new class system to provide more team play experience and give players the ability of visual distinction. The game presents 6 classes, each of them possess 2 specializations, and all except MAX have handguns and combat knives: Light Assault- a jetpack trooper, can employ a variety of grenades and explosives and is armed with a carbine by default Heavy Assault - heavy anti-infantry unit and anti-vehicle unit, can equip their faction's heavy assault weapon or machine gun and anti vehicle weapon Medic - a class responsible for replenishing players' health and reviving them on the field, armed with an assault rifle Engineer - a class responsible for vehicle repairs as well as fortification, can deploy ammo and a gun turret and is armed with a carbine by default Infiltrator- a saboteur or a sniper, capable of cloaking, hacking enemy consoles, spotting enemies, and armed with a high powered rifle
Mechanized Assault Exo-Suit (MAX) - a powerful armored robotic suit, capable of sustaining and dealing heavy damage, they can only be healed by an Engineer, when incapacitated a MAX can be revived as any other class but once up will need to be repaired by an engineer in order to return to full combat effectiveness, can be armed with a variety of weapon arms including anti-infantry, anti-armor, anti-air and flamethrower arms (As of the patch issued on 13 September 2012 the MAX will be treated as a vehicle not a distinct class due to 'MAX zergs' which threatened balance and play-ability)
The classes will not be tied to a character, one can switch a class at any given time, by using an equipment terminal on a base or at a mobile spawn point. Skill progression will not be tied to the active class either. The two assault classes, the medic, and the engineer have access to Assault Rifles and Carbines as standard (presumably SMGs and Shotguns as well), but some weapons are specific to a class, such as the MAX suit weapons, and machine gun and the sniper rifle. All weapons can be outfitted with alternate skins, sights, and functional attachments, as well as themselves be modified to have different traits. These new traits aren't an upgrade, but rather a "sidegrade", where in a straight fight both weapons come out equal. For example, a carbine with high damage and low rate of fire will have the same time-to-kill as a high rate of fire, low damage version of the original.
MechWarrior Online http://mwomercs.com/ MechWarrior Online (also known as MechWarrior 5) is the upcoming fifth game in the MechWarrior series. It is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online game scheduled to be released in late 2012 for the PC, and will follow the core BattleTech storyline but with re-designed BattleMechs. The game is an action simulation, and its setting will begin in 3049 then progress in real-time. Players can choose to join a house or mercenary company, or remain independent, and they pilot 'Mechs to fight for control of territories in a persistent world.
